This is a cover of John Prine's "Hello In There" from his masterpiece of a first album. For a brilliant example of Americana at it's finest, I urge anyone to check it out. Having loved it for years, I thought it was time to doff my hat to the old maestro and offer up an english reading of the song...just for the pure enjoyment of living with JP for a while. His first eponymously titled album...circa 1970 ish...is a real! gem for fans of American acousticana. A critical smash and a commercial disappointment, the record is lyrically diverse and contains many of his best known compositions. Proving himself capable of tackling folk balladry, country and rock with ease, Prine seems to spring into being as a fully formed singer-songwriter at the age of 24.
