4 April 2012 France 24 MNLA is the Azawad National Liberation Movement, made up of Tuareg nomads. They seek independence in the norther part of Mali. Ansar Dine is a Tuareg Islamist movement. Led by Iyad Ag Ghaly, possible ties to Al-Queda's North African branch. Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Mahgreb (AQIM). Originated as Islamist Algerian group. Allied with Al-Qaeda in 2007.
